Welcome from the Head of the French Section

In 2016-2017 the French Section has a student body of approximately 330 students, from Petite Section to Terminale. We offer teaching and learning according to the curricula established by the French Ministry of Education and all of our classes up to and including Première are accredited by the same Ministry. This school year, we will see our first students graduating from TES with the French Baccalauréat.

Our growing school is at the heart of the Taipei European School (TES), alongside the British and German schools, where we benefit from state of the art facilities and resources. We also offer a unique range of pedagogical choices, giving our pupils access to exceptional language programmes. By the end of CM2, our pupils have a B2 level in English, confirmed by Cambridge English exams (the level expected in France at the end of Terminale).

Our students’ linguistic talents are not all we have to be proud of. With a teaching ratio of 8 children per adult, a team of qualified and experienced teachers, art and music programmes worthy of specialised schools, qualification for international sporting competitions and remarkable IT equipment, the French Section has a lot to offer.

We have been working on a new School Development Project, based on five key words: ambition, innovation, excellence, multilingualism and care. In keeping with the project, our teaching team has devised a number of tools and learning pathways keeping in mind the learning profiles and hopes of each of our pupils. The different pathways offered in Primary allow you to make choices for your children’s future. In Secondary, the possibility for our students to take the French national exams (the Brevet and French Baccalauréat), as well as British (IGCSE) and international (IB) exams, gives our students an edge when applying for universities in the English- or French-speaking world.

Our French Section is both ambitious and friendly, international and French, innovative and attached to traditional values, demanding and welcoming. It has its own identity, which I am sure will convince you to make it your French Section of tomorrow.

Please take the time to read through this website and to get to know our school. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further queries or questions; our administrative team is here for you and happy to assist.
