Curriculum: IB

The final two years of Secondary can be viewed as the most challenging, yet in many ways also the most rewarding school years. Students in the final two years of school are starting to look ahead to life in higher education and as independent adults. We see it as our duty and privilege to guide students on this exciting journey. Our aim is to direct, support, encourage and mentor our young adult learners and provide them with an educational environment that allows them to develop their full potential leading to graduation and beyond.

  • Since August 2002, TES has been authorised as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. The aim of the IB Diploma Programme is to develop internationally minded people who recognise their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet and help to create a better world. Informed by these values, an IB education:
  • centres on learners
  • develops effective approaches to teaching and learning
  • works within global contexts
  • explores significant content.

An IB education is unique because of its rigorous academic and personal standards. IB programmes challenge students to excel, not only in their studies, but also in their personal growth. The IB aims to inspire a lifelong quest for learning hallmarked by enthusiasm and empathy.

The IB Diploma is divided into six subject areas: Studies in Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, The Arts. In addition, all Diploma students will participate in the IB Core, consisting of Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Extended Essay (EE), and Creativity Activity and Service (CAS).
