Welcome from Head of the British Primary Section

As Head of the British Primary Section it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our website, whether you are a long-standing member of the TES family, or if you are visiting for the first time.

When my family relocated to Taiwan we were treated with great courtesy and kindness as we settled in our new home. That same welcome, care and consideration is extended to all our new families at TES, whether you are Taipei residents or moving from overseas. As you join us, you can be sure of the same warm and friendly greeting as you start to settle into your new school family.

When I first joined the British Primary Section, I was asked why I wanted to make the move to TES. My answer was that I have been hugely impressed by the world class quality of education offered and that the international dimension in the children’s learning that we offer gives our children fantastic preparation for learning and for life. At the British Primary Section we are committed to the development of the whole child, challenging children to be the best they can be academically, but also preparing them to be independent, thoughtful and responsible global citizens.

At the British Primary Section we use the English National Curriculum as our framework for learning. This provides children’s learning with a clear progression in skill development and, alongside our inquiry approach, ensures that learning is meaningful, challenging and engaging. We provide experiences that are personalised, allowing us to meet children’s needs and develop critical and creative thinkers.

All our staff are committed to a learning focused approach and plan engaging, differentiated activities. We focus on the development of the whole child in the classroom but also in the world outside, making educational visits an integral part of curriculum. Through a range of ‘real’ experiences children extend, consolidate and enhance their learning.

If you would like to know more about the day to day working of the British Primary Section, and you cannot find the information on the website, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Peter Sloan
